“We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.” ~ II Corinthians 4:9
Yesterday I got some lousy news.
The book pitch that I made way back at the end of March was finally rejected. In a one sentence email. An email so short, in fact, that the little preview that my smartphone displays showed almost the entire thing. Which means right before I got to the counter to order my coffee at Starbucks, I was reading the news.
Not a great moment for me.
But the news turned out to not be so debilitating as it initially seemed. Yes, I was sad that there wasn’t more to the explanation, something to make the experience a bit less like ripping off a Band-Aid. Instead, God reminded me that He has used my writing, just maybe not in the ways I would have expected.
God is a master at doing the unexpected, which is why even when life tries to knock us down, we can get right back up. God is always with us; never abandoning us. And really, that’s all we need.
