“It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.” ~ Psalm 127:2

I came down with a cold yesterday.

I knew it was coming, and had hoped it would just pass by and leave me alone, but sadly that was not to be.

What was especially frustrating was not being able to accomplish the super long list of things I had to do today.  My little boy was spending the day with his grandparents, and I was going to attempt to be superwoman and do twelve hundred things while he was gone.

At this point, I’m just happy I ate dinner, because as far as accomplishments go, that’s been about it.

What always amazes me is God’s ability to use something as simple as a head cold to bring a screeching halt to all the things that I had planned and use it to make me rest.  Resting was probably a much better plan than running around today, but I am certain that left to my own devices I wouldn’t have.

God doesn’t want us to run ourselves ragged, pushing past our limits.  He wants us to be rested – so much He promises to give us sleep.  Take the time to do it.  You’ll feel much better for it.
