“The twelve gates were made of pearls–each gate from a single pearl! And the main street was pure gold, as clear as glass.” ~ Revelation 21:21

Ah, summertime.  Sunshine, blue skies, and…orange cones as far as the eye can see.

The town I live in does an excellent job of maintaining the streets.  I’m not sure I’ve ever lived in a place where the upkeep was anywhere near what it is here.  It’s incredible.  But driving on pristine roads has a price – endless construction.

So as I was driving through yet another construction zone today, I had a bit of a chuckle when I thought to myself, “No wonder God picked gold for the streets – I’m sure the upkeep on them is very minimal!”

Our roads here on earth are generally made of asphalt – and they sure don’t last long.  Crumbling and cracking is common, which is why roads have to constantly be repaved.  But in a small little detail like the streets in heaven, we can see God doesn’t let any detail slip by – He makes sure everything in heaven is the very best.

Imagine how grand it will be – no orange cones anywhere!
