“There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him; they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever.” ~ Revelation 22:3-5
Yesterday I returned from a four-day trip to California. It was my first vacation since the death of my husband and birth of my son, and was definitely something that I needed to do.
Being a first-time parent meant I was a little bit panicky at the thought of leaving my son for so long, but he had a great time with his grandparents (and aunts and uncle). And while he was cheerful the whole time I was gone, I do know that he was quite relieved when he returned home and found his mom there.
Today has been filled with evidence of just that. He hasn’t let me out of his sight for more than a moment, hollering, “Mama!” anytime I leave the room. And when I returned from my weekly grocery shopping trip (during which a high school student watches him), he exclaimed, “Mama back!”
It makes me think of how excited we will be to see Jesus face-to-face upon our arrival in heaven. While we currently have the Holy Spirit to help us through our earthly journey, I have a feeling that our delight in seeing Christ in person will be unmatched with anything we have experienced in this world. We will want to spend every possible moment with him, catching up on what has seemed like a long separation. What a glorious reunion to look forward to, after our long travels on earth!
