“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” ~ I Corinthians 10:13
Have you ever noticed that oftentimes the best way to find the solution for a problem is to identify what is actually wrong?
This was my ah-ha for the past two days. It started with a conversation I had with a friend, prompted by her question about how she could best help me right now. It took her asking three times what it is I actually need, and after some foot-dragging, I was actually able to articulate my need for help in certain areas. I am very thankful to have friends who are willing to push me when I need it!
This conversation was the first domino, as it got me thinking about a number of areas in my life that I am struggling with. And I realized that there was one main thing at the heart of all three areas. Suddenly, everything seemed a bit easier to handle, because I knew what was actually tripping me up.
I choose this verse because I think it best demonstrates that God will be there for us, through everything we deal with. And I also believe that we can face temptation in the form of giving up on finding solutions – which can almost be more damaging than something dangerous. The danger we know to avoid, but giving up on figuring out how to fix the problem seems so easy. But God doesn’t give up on us, nor will He let us give up. He keeps on encouraging us, show us how to overcome everything we face.
