“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” ~ Ephesians 6:18

After a rather stressful day at work (yes, it’s possible to have stressful days even when you work at home), I’m glad that things have finally settled down enough for me to take a break and cook dinner.

Part of my day’s stress was a result of an organization not having the correct contact information for the place that I work at.  As a result, after a week of email exchanges and phone calls about a project, a lot of important information was sent to the wrong person instead of me.  Fortunately, this person was on the ball and forwarded the information on, but it was frustrating to say the least.

In our world, contact information is crucial for doing business, but tricky because it’s always changing.  People change email addresses, cell numbers, jobs and somehow we are supposed to be able to stay on top of this onslaught of information.  Occasionally getting a hold of a person can be downright impossible, if you don’t know exactly where to look.

It makes me wonder why, then, we are so reticent in making talking with God an ongoing, daily habit.  We let our days turn into a blur, without making time for Him.  And yet, He is always in the same place.  We never have to try to figure out how to get a hold of Him.  The Creator of the universe has cleared the lines to spend time with us, but how often do we take Him up on His offer?

So next time you find yourself frustrated by emails, phone calls and other methods of communication, use it as a chance to check in with yourself and see where you are at when it comes to communicating with God.  It might just be what we all need to make the day go a little smoother – because a call to Him always goes through.
