“‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” ~ Revelation 21:4
Tonight my heart is broken for the family of two of my students, who lost their father in a tragic accident today.
I cry for their mother, who has been introduced altogether too soon to widowhood. They lost a wonderful, kind man who was a father, son, brother, husband, and friend. I can only too well understand their pain.
Death is a strange beast – both incredibly isolating, yet the only universal thing we all experience. Even with a similar experience, we cannot fully understand the pain a person goes through when they lose a loved one. All we can do is cry with them, and cling to the promises of the Word of God.
The salvation we have in Christ is what assures us that a day will come when there will be no more crying or pain. That death and mourning will end. And God Himself will wipe away our tears.
