“Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.” ~ Philippians 1:3
Through all the sadness that has surrounded the loss of my husband, in my more together moments I am thankful that I was blessed to know him. It humbles me to know that he only had a limited number of years on this earth and God chose me to be a part of his life for five of those years. It somehow makes things easier to handle when I put them in this perspective. I have an eternity in heaven to look forward to spending time with him again, and so while I think our time together on earth was much too short, I am glad to have shared any time at all with him.
Think of the people that God has chosen to be a part of your life. Do they know how thankful you are for them? Have you thought about what an honor it is to be a part of someone’s life? Paul’s exclamation at the beginning of Philippians illustrates this feeling of gratitude. He gives thanks and prays for the people of Philippi every time they come to mind. Are you doing this with your friends and family? Do you thank God for all of those people whose lives you are privileged to share?
Follow Paul’s example today, and give God thanks for the people you know. But don’t just stop there – Paul shared with the Philippians how glad he was for them. So take things a step further and after you’ve thanked God for the people in your life, tell them, too.
