But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” ~ I Peter 1:15-16

In my Bible study, we are currently going through a book that teaches us how to put on the character of Christ.  I love it, because it’s written from a girl’s point of view, so there are plenty of references to shopping and finding clothes that fit just right.  However, it isn’t just fluffy, fun things, there are also plenty of moments that challenge me right to my very core.

The chapter we discussed tonight dealt with being set apart and living as one who has been chosen to be holy.  The author did a great job combing through the difficulties that come from living as holy, chosen people and not just acting legalistic by just following a bunch of rules.

What truly struck me was a quote that she included from D.L. Moody toward the end of the chapter that said, “A holy life will produce the deepest impression. Lighthouses blow no horns; they only shine.”

What a terrific illustration of how important it is for a Christian, truly living a holy life, to make sure we get out there so people can see it.  Our example of living a holy life is what the world desperately needs to see, and the only way they’re going to see it is if we show them.

So, get out there and go shine.
